Applying
When applying to University of California--San Diego, it's important to note the application deadline is November 30. Scores for either the ACT or SAT test are due January 15. The application fee at University of California--San Diego is $70. It is most selective, with an acceptance rate of 33.5 percent.
CHECKLIST
Subject Requirement
You must complete a minimum of fifteen college-preparatory courses with at least eleven of the courses finished prior to your senior year in high school. These are called “a through g” courses (“a–g”) and include:
History/Social Science—two years
English—four years
Mathematics—three years (four years recommended)
Laboratory science—two years (three years recommended)
Language other than English—two years (three years recommended)
Visual and performing arts—one year
College-preparatory electives—one year
Scholarship Requirement (GPA you must earn)
California residents: You must earn a GPA of 3.0 or better with no grade lower than C.
Non-California residents: You must earn a GPA of 3.4 or better with no grade lower than C.
GPA is based on "A-G" courses taken during 10th and 11th grades. See Subject Requirement for "A-G" course explanation.
Standardized Tests
You must submit scores from either:
ACT Plus Writing OR
SAT Reasoning Test with critical reading, math and writing; scores must be from same sitting
Recommended for engineering, biological or physical sciences majors:
Math Level 2 and a SAT Subject Test closely related to your major.
Only your highest scores from a single sitting will be considered.
A minimum score of 83 is required for the TOEFL.
