인공지능의 시대 - 아마존 고

찰스 온라인 클리닉입니다.
인터넷 뉴스를 보다가,  인공지능 (AI)으로 계산대와 계산원 없는 매장으로 운영되는 아마존 고 (AMAZON GO)에 관한 기사를 읽었습니다. 인공지능의 시대가 점차적으로 열리는 것이 실감이 납니다.
카메라·센서가 쇼핑 상품 체크하고 손님이 매장 나서면 자동 결제되므로 줄을 서서 계산을 할 필요가 없다고 합니다. 고객들은 스마트폰에서 '아마존 고 앱(응용 프로그램)'을 켜고 매장에 들어서서 장바구니에 원하는 상품을 담고, 장을 다 본 사람들은 상품을 종이봉투에 옮겨 담은 뒤 계산하지 않고 매장을 나간다... 

미국 라이스대학의 전산학과 교수 모셰 바르디는 인공지능이 향후 30년 동안 인류의 절반 이상을 실직 상태로 만들 것이라고 전망하고, 산업혁명 때는 단순히 인간보다 근력이 뛰어난 기계가 탄생했지만, 인공지능은 힘과 지능을 모두 지녀 파급력이 훨씬 클 것이라는 기사를 보니, 미래의 세상살이는 지금 보다 더욱 녹녹치 않을 듯 보입니다.
이러한 기사들은, 미래 향후 유망 직업과, 학과를 예상해 볼 수 있는 좋은 예라고 보입니다.
가까운 미래만 보더라도, 같은 크기의 매장이라도 90명이 일할 수 있는 환경에서, 인공 지능이 있다면, 직원 6명만 있으면 된다고 하니, 단순노동의 직업들은 물론 사라질 것이고, 안전한 미래를 위해, 어떤 공부를 어떻게 준비하고, 대비해야 하는지 알아봐야 할 때인 것 같습니다.

싱가포르 경영 대학교의 장학금 & 재정 지원 정보에 대한 포스팅 시작해 봅니다.

싱가포르 경영 대학교는...
4명 중 3명의 학생이 장학금이나 재정 지원을 받고 있습니다.
이 대학에서는 작년에 $109 million를 장학금과 재정보조로 수여되었습니다.
장학금과 재정 지원을 희망하는 학생은 1월 15일까지 신청하셔야 합니다.


SMU의 가장 대표적인 장학금 

1. President’s Scholars

   The President’s Scholars Program is awarded to students who have shown exemplary academic and leadership skills. The award provides full tuition and fees as well as study abroad. Students who live on campus also receive a scholarship for room and board. For consideration for the President’s Scholarships, the highest academic awards given by the University, students must have exceptional achievement on the SAT or ACT and in their high school curriculum. 2. Nancy Ann and Ray L. Hunt Leadership Scholars (separate essay required)

   The Nancy Ann and Ray L. Hunt Leadership Scholars Program is awarded to students with extraordinary leadership qualities and strong academic performance. The award is full tuition and fees, less the amount of tuition and fees at the leading public university in the recipient’s state of residency, plus study abroad. An additional essay is required. 3. Second Century Scholarship, Deans' Scholarship

The Second Century Scholarship, Deans' Scholarship, and SMU Distinguished Scholarship are awarded to those students who have demonstrated outstanding academic success throughout high school – most importantly by presenting a combination of high school grades and standardized test scores that together place them among the top students applying to SMU each year. Students selected as a Second Century, Deans', and SMU Distinguished Scholars are recognized as potential leaders in the classroom at SMU. This designation is based on information submitted in the application for admission and may be updated by sending additional SAT or ACT scores directly from The College Board or ACT, Inc. respectively. These scholarship offers are typically included in a student’s admission packet and may be combined with some (but not all) of the other academic scholarships listed on this page. Students receive notification of other scholarship awards from each specific scholarship program directly. 4. National Merit Scholarships

   National Merit and National Achievement Scholarships are awarded to those students who have been named National Merit or Achievement Finalists, receiving up to $5,000 annually. To qualify, students must designate SMU as their first choice school with the National Merit Corporation by the final deadline set by National Merit. 5. International Baccalaureate Scholars

   Students who complete the IB Diploma Program will receive a $7,500 per academic year scholarship. The scholarship will no longer have varying amounts based on the IB exam scores, as it has in years past. This scholarship may be combined with other scholarship or grant aid from SMU, but in no case can the combination of institutional aid exceed Tuition and Fees for that academic year. 우선 싱가포르 경영 대학교에 대한 간단한 소개를 하자면, 이 대학은 2000년 1월 12일 설립된 싱가포르 최초로 정부 재정으로 운영되는 자치 대학으로 1999년 펜실베이니아 대학교 와튼 경영 대학과 협약을 체결하고 2000년 싱가포르 국립대학의 래플즈 대학에 최초로 자리를 잡았습니다. 
이 대학은 국제 경영 대학발전협의회로부터 AACSB 인증을 받은 신진 대학 가운데 하나이며, 싱가포르 경영 대학의 리콩찬 경영 대학은 유럽경영 대학협의회로부터 5년 동안 인증받았다고 합니다.  이 대학의 주요 학부를 보면, 회계 대학, 리콩찬 경영 대학, 경제대학, 정보 시스템대학, 법과대학, 사회과학대학 등이 있습니다.

고등학교 최소 요구 코스웍 

SMU strongly recommend a minimum of 17-18 solid academic units including 4 English, 3 math (algebra I, II, geometry), 3 social science, 3 science (2 lab science), and 2 foreign language (of the same language). Students who present programs in excess of minimum requirements generally have an advantage in the admission process.  Competitive applicants present an average of 20 high school academic units.

에세이 작성

Each application (The Common Application, ApplyTexas, and the SMU Online Application) has its own set of essay prompts with varying length requirements, but essays are generally 250 – 650 words in length.  No matter which application method you choose, all essays are reviewed equally.
