When applying to University of California--Los Angeles, it's important to note the application deadline is November 30. Scores for either the ACT or SAT test are due January 15. The application fee at University of California--Los Angeles is $70. It is most selective, with an acceptance rate of 18.6 percent.

Minimum admission requirements
Freshman applicants will be required to complete a minimum of 15 yearlong "a-g" courses in grades 9-12. Seven of these courses must be taken in the last two years of high school. Students must complete:
  • A) History/social studies
  • B) English
  • C) Mathematics
  • D) Laboratory science
  • E) Language other than English
  • F) Visual and performing arts
  • G) College-prep elective

  • ※ Students applying for admission to the fall term must take their admissions tests no later thanDecember of the senior year/last year prior to high school/secondary school graduation, preferably earlier. It is unlikely that scores from tests taken after December will arrive in our office in time for our review process.
  • Students should report ACT and/or SAT scores on the admission application, then request that an official copy of the scores should be sent to us from the testing agency. Official score report sent to one UC campus will be shared with all campuses a student applies to.
  • We require all scores and will use the highest scores from a single administration.
  • For the ACT Plus Writing test, we will focus on the highest combined score from the same test administration.
  • For the SAT Reasoning Test, we will focus on the highest total score from a single test date.

Cost and Financial Aid

At University of California--Los Angeles, 55.3 percent of full-time undergraduates receive some kind of need-based financial aid and the average need-based scholarship or grant award is $18,806.

Estimated average costs for nonresidents, 2016

Scholarship
In order to be considered for admission, applicants must have earned a minimum GPA of 3.0 (3.4 for nonresidents) in all "a-g" courses completed in grades 10 and 11, with no grade lower than a C. We award extra grade points for grades received in approved honors-level courses to a maximum of eight semesters, including no more than four semesters taken in the 10th grade.

Financial Aid
Applying is free, and many students are surprised to find out what they're eligible to receive. Whether or not you think you’ll qualify for need-based financial aid, it’s still a good idea to apply — it’s the only way to you'll be considered for every type of aid possible.
