Each international candidate must:
Be unmarried, with no dependents, bonafide citizen of the nominating country and be of good moral character. Meet high leadership, academic, physical and medical standards.

Pass the Candidate Fitness Assessment which consists of pull-ups, push-ups, crunches, shuttle run, basketball throw and mile run.

Nominations
In order to be considered for admission to the United States Air Force Academy you must be nominated by your country. Nominations from your government are processed through the United States Defense Attaché Office/American Embassy serving your country. Nominations must be received by the Air Force Academy by 14 December for the class entering the following June.
To apply for a nomination, write your country’s government. Your letter should contain complete details about your background and your potential for success at the Academy. It should be received at least one year prior to the date of admission. The Defense Attaché Office at the American Embassy can direct you to the correct ministry in your country. DO NOT apply directly to the Air Force Academy or other United States government officials.

Admissions Forms

Required Evaluations
You will be interviewed and be evaluated by an American Officer. Additionally, you will be required to complete a Writing Sample answering questions about yourself and your motivation to attend the Air Force Academy.

Required Tests
The Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) reasoning test or the American College Test (ACT) college entrance examination is required for admissions. Admissions will only accept the SAT reasoning test, not the SAT subject tests. The Academy automatically uses whichever test produces the higher scores. The highest scores from different testing dates are used, but SAT and ACT scores will not be combined.
Note that the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) is not currently required.

Secondary (Grades 6 – 10)
All prospective entrants must have an interview with a member of the school administration or admissions staff. Students are required to take the PET test and the IPT oral test to determine their level and need for support.

International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma – Grades 11 – 12
All prospective entrants must have an interview with the IB Coordinator. An English language test is mandatory where a student does not have English as a first language to be conducted by the ELL Coordinator. The minimum standard is a pass in the Cambridge FCE exam, or equivalent.
Entrance to Grade 11, to begin IBDP studies, requires a minimum of five passes in (I)GCSE with C grade or better, or in the case of a student entering from another system, evidence that they have reached a standard of academic achievement such that they are likely to succeed in the IB program. The student must select option subjects from our course list.
Entry may be given after January providing it is clearly understood that the student may have to start Grade 11 again the following year if inadequate progress makes this necessary.
For students unable to meet our IBDP entry requirements an alternative course may be offered.

For Entry in Grade 12
All prospective entrants must have an interview with the IB Coordinator and Principal.
Students who have already completed 1 year of study at a comparable level to Grade 11 in the IB, and are adjudged to have a reasonable chance of success in either the IB certificate or diploma examinations, will be considered on their merits.
