Once you begin your application, add Case Western Reserve to your list of My Colleges and click "save." CWRU's member questions will then appear in the My Colleges tab

Core grade point average (English, academic math, laboratory science, foreign language, social studies)
SAT or ACT score sent from the testing agency.  A writing score from one of these tests is not required.

Note that in addition to required minimum scores for writing, speaking, listening, and reading, the Graduate School also requires a minimum overall score that is higher than the minimums for the four area tests combined.

Although not required, a letter of recommendation is strongly recommended, especially for students who want to be considered for scholarships, the Honors College or who are applying for highly competitive programs.
All applicants must graduate from high school or have successfully completed their state's high school equivalency requirements and Indiana residents are given preference.
High School Preparation
Most students who are admitted to Purdue exceed Purdue's high school course expectations. Therefore, all students who plan to apply to Purdue are encouraged to exceed these expectations as well.
Courses that qualify for the subject categories include the following:
Math - Purdue requires eight semesters (four years) of college- math. View comprehensive list of college-prep math courses.
Laboratory Science* - biology, chemistry, physics, earth/space science, physiology/anatomy, etc.
English - grammar, composition, literature, speech, and vocabulary, but not journalism, newspaper, yearbook, or theatre arts.

Essay for 2017 Application
For 2017 enrollment, these applications will be available in early August 2016.

First-Time College Students (Freshmen)

The Common Application Freshman Essay Prompts (required minimum-maximum word count: 250-650)
  1. Some students have a background, identity, interest, or talent that is so meaningful they believe their application would be incomplete without it. If this sounds like you, then please share your story
  2. The lessons we take from failure can be fundamental to later success. Recount an incident or time when you experienced failure. How did it affect you, and what did you learn from the experience?
  3. Reflect on a time when you challenged a belief or idea. What prompted you to act? Would you make the same decision again?
  4. Describe a problem you've solved or a problem you'd like to solve. It can be an intellectual challenge, a research query, an ethical dilemma-anything that is of personal importance, no matter the scale. Explain its significance to you and what steps you took or could be taken to identify a solution.
  5. Discuss an accomplishment or event, formal or informal, that marked your transition from childhood to adulthood within your culture, community, or family.
The Coalition Application Freshman Essay Prompts (recommended minimum-maximum word count: 300-500)
  1. Tell a story from your life, describing an experience that either demonstrates your character or helped to shape it.
  2. Describe a time when you made a meaningful contribution to others in which the greater good was your focus. Discuss the challenges and rewards of making your contribution.
  3. Has there been a time when you’ve had a long-cherished or accepted belief challenged? How did you respond? How did the challenge affect your beliefs?
  4. What is the hardest part of being a teenager now? What’s the best part? What advice would you give a younger sibling or friend (assuming they would listen to you)?
  5. Submit an essay on a topic of your choice.

Admission data indicates that University of Rochester regularly accepts students with ACTs of 29 and above. P
rospective students submitting an ACT composite of 30 or higher should be in the upper half of appliants - and students with a 32 and above have very competitive chances. 35 percent of applicants submit ACT scores to University of Rochester.

SAT (New SAT)

Reporting indicates the school consistently takes SAT composite scores down to 1250 on a 1600 scale, below which admission should be considered a reach. 
The estimated average SAT composite for admitted freshman is 1350 out of 1600. 
A competitive SAT score is critical as 67 percent of applicants submit SAT scores to the school.
