미국 대학을 준비하는 학생이라면, 당연히 SAT, ACT 시험을 염두에 두고 공부를 할 것입니다.
SAT. ACT 시험 이전에 8학년, 9학년, 10학년들은 PSAT를 봄으로써 실전 경험을 쌓아, 부족한 부분을 알고, 취약점을 집중 보완하여 대비하는 것은 매우 중요한 일입니다.
더불어 All SAT Score Policy를 채택한 대학을 지원하는 학생들에겐, SAT 실전 시험 횟수 상관없이 모든 점수를 대학에 보내야 하므로  시험 하나하나를 신중하게 볼 수밖에 없으므로, SAT 실전 시험을 보기 전에 PSAT 시험을 봄으로써 경험을 쌓는 것만큼 중요한 것은 없다고 봅니다.
또 한가지 PSAT는 National Merit Scholarship에 도전을 원하는 학생이라면 반드시 치러야 하는 시험이기도 하지요.

College Board에서는 2017 PSAT/NMSQT 테스트 일정을 공개했는데요, 일정은 다음과 같습니다.

2017 Testing Schedule

Regular test day: Wednesday, Oct. 11

Saturday test day: Oct.14

Alternate test day: Wednesday, Oct. 25

새롭게 디자인된 NEW SAT와 더불어 2015년 10월에 New Redesigned  PSAT에 대해 간략하게 설명하자면, 전의 PSAT보다 35분 더 길어진,  총 2시간 45분의 시험 시간이 주어집니다.  

5지 선다형에서 4지 선다형으로 바뀌었고, No penalty for wrong answers 포맷입니다.

점수의 변화도 있습니다.

Redesigned PSAT는 점수 스케일은 320-1520 사이이며 Top Score은 1600입니다. 

Math 점수는 160-760  /  Reading and Writing 점수 또한 160- 760입니다.

PSAT는 SAT 시험 보다 쉽게 출제되지만, 많이 닮아 있고, PSAT 점수로 SAT 점수를 예상할 수 있습니다.

독서는 SSAT, PSAT, SAT, ACT를 준비하지 않는다고 해서, 필요하지 않는 것이 아닙니다.
